I've always wanted to travel to Cuba. Since I was a little girl, I've loved the music, the dance and the food. Cuba has been on my travel bucket list since I created my first bucket list. When Obama announced that we would be able to go, I made it a priority to get there for my 35th birthday.
I grabbed An Urban Hubs, some friends and we got our butts over there this past October.
Cuba was more amazing than I imagined it would be. The people are warm, the culture is rich, the music is everywhere and the food is delicious. It doesn't hurt that the weather is amazing too.
We studied dance and percussion, took in all of the sights and sounds and tuned out. I spent more time with real people, talking and laughing - than I have in a long time. There is something wonderful about not having wifi everywhere, cable with 400+ channels and gadgets. We had to enjoy each other. We had to live each experience instead of worrying about whether or not we could post it on FB or IG.
I will forever cherish our trip to Cuba and I hope to go many many many more times.
