I’m OFFICIALLY Driving a MOM Vehicle
- One that I kinda have to climb into
- Can fit more than one car seat and a few adults at the same (damn) time
- Has room to change the diaper in the trunk/storage area if need be
- Can fit a stroller AND groceries
- Has 5 star safety ratings, new tires and AWD for those crazy snowy days we get around the D
Yeah… I have one of those now. I upgraded my V6, spoiler in the back, after market sound system (with a 12 inch sub) 2004 Grand Am for a 2014 Honda CR-V EX. I had that car 10 years. It still drives really well – but it fits one car seat with one adult, my stroller and 2 bags of groceries. I couldn’t continue to live like that. I need to be able to take the kid, my hubby, perhaps another passenger, the stroller and do real shopping (2 or 3 stores worth). That just wasn’t happening in the Grand Am. I was also starting to feel nervous about driving around in such an old car, with front wheel drive in our vicious Michigan winters with my precious cargo in the back seat. Oh… and tinted windows? I didn’t know how important they were until I had a little baby in the backseat squinting during a 30 min drive.
Let me tell you – after a full week of getting around with the new ride…I can tell you that the difference really is night and day. My ride is smoother, quieter, roomier and more fuel efficient. I get a little over 25 miles per gallon right now and I do a mix of highway and city driving. It’s so much easier to get An Urban Babe in and out of the car because now we’ve moved him up to a convertible seat which sits in the middle of the back seat with enough room for two passengers to also share. Did I mention that the front seats recline ALL THE WAY BACK to the seats behind them (even with the car seat in the middle)? Now that’s SPACE. I can store the stroller, a carrier, and still have room for a month’s worth of groceries in my trunk.
Meet my girl.. I haven’t named her yet.
